The self contained thread chaser kit is designed specifically for use on structural screws and nut plates that have been damaged or where the technician has determined that cleaning is appropriate. Unlike traditional taps they will clean the nut plate's thread while maintaining its self-locking property.
Additionally, they are produced from an alloy that will not shatter in the presence of excess torque but rather will break cleanly at the shank, leaving a small stud, facilitating removal by whatever means available.
The female chasers fit Apex type bit drivers and the male chasers are knurled and easily hand held. The male chasers are designed similar to a standard die stock and are pre-adjusted to maintain structural screw dimensions while removing common thread damage.
The kit is housed in a custom made automotive leather pouch, includes thread lubricant in its own sealed container, and adds a mere 9.4 oz. to your tool bag.
